If you've been considering plastic surgery, you may have felt a bit of sticker shock when looking at the prices. There's no question about it, even the simplest cosmetic procedures can cost more than many people have lying around. While this may be a reason to reconsider whether or not you really need or want that procedure, or an impetus to start saving money, it could also be a sign that you just need to find some deals that will help you pay a little less for what you need. This does not mean going in search of bargain basement doctors, of course—this is still your health you're talking about. But there are some things you can do that, when combined with judicious research, can help you get that nose job or breast augmentation for less.

Comparison Shopping

This is advice to be taken with the proper caution. While there's nothing wrong with looking around to see what various doctors are charging, this is not like buying a new car. If you're looking for a new Honda Civic, you can feel good about buying it for the absolute lowest price you can find. When it comes to plastic surgery, you need to take a multitude of other considerations into account as well. You don't want to wind up with a real life counterpart to the Simpsons' "Dr. Nick" because you want to save a few dollars. At the same time, looking for a doctor in Beverly Hills could easily result in paying far more than you really need to for the same procedure.

Discounts

People don't usually think of discounts and coupons when they think about plastic surgery, but specials are out there. Doctors are businessmen just as they are health professionals and they want to attract new customers. Look for some deals before you decide where to take your business. As with comparison shopping, however, you would be better off spending a little more and finding yourself in the hands of a competent professional than saving a few dollars and winding up with a helping heap of regret.

Health Care Credit

If you're having trouble coming up with the money for a plastic surgery procedure, you might want to look into doctors and clinics that offer a line of health care credit. While it may not save you any money, it will give you an opportunity to pay for your procedure in monthly, bite-sized bits, rather than a big up front chunk.
