Are You Allergic To Black Mold? Symptoms And Warning Signs To Watch For

Black mold, a common household pest, is a toxic and potentially dangerous fungus. Because it is often hard to distinguish between regular mold and black mold, it is best to treat all mold growth as a threat. Further, it is important to understand the warning signs and symptoms of black mold, both on your home and on your health.

You might have seen small patches of black color on the corners

of windows or some other places in your house and might have tried to

ignore them. It is something that should not be ignored at any cost, as

there are many health risks involved with them. In fact, these are black

molds and their spores travel in the air and cause health problems.

People who suffer more are kids and elder ones. One needs to know about

how black mold can cause infections in humans. If you touch the mold

with hands or other body parts, the spores get consumed by your body.

There have been many cases of deaths of babies due to these molds, as

they cause respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis.

The

health risk caused due to black mold depends on the amount of spores

consumed. Since these spores can travel in the air, they can be inhaled

while breathing and can also settle on food. Many people get skin

rashes, skin diseases and allergies such as cough, flu and watery eyes.

All these problems can transform into serious problems if black mold is

not controlled. Other health problems caused by these molds are headache

and lack of concentration because the spores affect the central nervous

system directly. Those who have a low immune system must stay away from

these molds, as they can easily get prone to many diseases. Similarly,

people who are patients of asthma should avoid exposure to the molds.

The

spores of black mold can disperse in air or can spread through

curtains, carpets, walls and other fabrics. You must have awareness of

symptoms of health problems related to these molds. Initially, there is a

musty odor that will help you locate the contaminated area. Places that

don't have good ventilation systems promote molds. There are some other

symptoms that can help you know that there are molds in your house.

These symptoms include redness, swelling and irritation of eyes, flu,

sneezing, wheezing and difficulty in breathing. People who have

sensitive skin get skin allergies in the form of redness, rashes and

irritation. They must avoid direct contact with molds, so that they

don't get severe reactions.

In order to avoid health problems

caused by mold, you need to take effective steps to prevent the molds.

One way is to get an air purifier system installed in your house so that

there are less chances of traveling of spores in the air. Secondly,

there are many mold removal methods available that must be used with

care.
