A Browlift Is An Easy Procedure With Great Results

For patients seeking a solution to sagging forehead skin and wrinkles, a browlift is a good semi-permanent solution. Read on to learn more.

For patients seeking a solution to sagging forehead skin and wrinkles, a browlift is a good semi-permanent solution. Although most patients are otherwise healthy individuals, sometimes surgical solution is necessary to correct premature signs of aging.

Many patients will combine this procedure with other plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, eyelid surgery, or hair transplant. The main goal of the surgery is to eliminate excess skin and deep folds and wrinkles. It is less invasive than a facelift because it only involves the forehead, which is a much smaller area. Therefore, it is an outpatient procedure that uses a local anesthesia because the surgeon makes incisions around the forehead area exclusively, instead of the entire face. However, the incisions also cover the hairline, which will cause some numbness in the scalp during recovery.

The technique is similar to a facelift because the surgeon can use either a conventional technique or the endoscopic technique. A conventional browlift involves making a long incision along the hairline to expose the muscles underneath the skin. Once the skin is pulled back, the surgeon can remove excess skin that causes drooping, and then manipulate the muscles to bring about a tighter, more youthful look. After conventional surgery, most patients will need up to two weeks recovery time. During recovery, most patients can expect some loss of sensation and swelling, which will improve over time. The endoscopic browlift is performed by making small incisions to excess the muscles underneath.

Complications associated with this procedure are rare. In fact, a number of complications after surgery are sometimes associated with the other procedures that may have been performed in conjunction. Finding the right doctor is important to avoid any of these complications. An unskilled doctor may cause permanent hair loss or loss of sensation in the scalp if they do not make their incisions correctly or remove too much skin. There are many self-designated medical boards, but only a few are qualified to certify plastic surgeons that are qualified for these procedures. Furthermore, a browlift requires precision and skill that all plastic surgeons cannot demonstrate for that type of procedure. A good plastic surgeon will have an extensive portfolio of their previous work for a potential patient to see before and after results.

Consider a browlift in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift or hair transplant. Although this procedure is simple, it can provide impressive results when combined with other parts of the face, especially when removing excess skin that causes deep wrinkles and premature signs of aging.
