Laser hair removal is quiet a

drastic change in the hair follicles of the skin. It is thus prone to many

affects if care is not taken after the treatment. Your technician or consultant

will be best able to guide you on how to protect your skin after the laser hair removal treatment. As the hair follicles are burnt and destroyed there are

chances that if the skin is exposed to ultraviolet rays to an excessive amount,

might cause discoloration of the skin from that particular portion. The after

affects on the skin caused by factors like excessive sunlight are mostly

permanent.

There are no

medications which you must be using unless and until your technician prescribes

you some according to your skin conditions. Do not rub or scratch the treated

skin. Do not use strong soap or cleansing agents instead use a mild skin

cleansing milk which will clean and moisturize the skin as well. To reduce

swelling and redness from your skin, consult your technician. He might give you

an ointment to apply that will reduce swelling and redness from your skin.

You should

also avoid all the other hair removal methods like shaving, waxing, hair

removal creams etc. these methods can only be resumed after consultation from

your technician, as these might slow down the recovery process of the skin. Do

not use any chemicals on the skin as well like bleaching as they might cause a

lot of irritation to the skin. As mentioned before, you should avoid exposure

to sun but if you have to go out in the sun, you should apply a sunscreen of

SPF 20 to SPF 25 for three to four weeks after the treatment.

Laser hair removal treatment is perfectly safe and reliable but even then some patients

may experience blisters on the skin. You should consult your technician

immediately and act upon whatever he prescribes to you. Exercises and heavy

work should also be avoided as irritation is also caused by sweating. Avoid

such activities for up to one day. Do not apply any perfume or deodorant on the

skin as well up to two days after the treatment. Do not bath from hot water;

use a mild water to do that. Always consult your doctor as soon as you feel any

reaction on your skin apart from those mentioned in this article.
